Presentation: The Superior Hiking Trail in Minnesota. Drop-in. Join us for a photo journey on the not-so-well-known Superior Hiking Trail. The Superior Hiking Trail is a footpath that follows the rocky ridgeline above Lake Superior on Minnesota's North Shore. Our 270 mile, 21 day backpacking trek, took us from the remote Canadian border south to bustling Duluth in wolf, bear and moose country through spectacular scenery of wild rivers, cascading waterfalls and beautiful vistas of the lake the Ojibwe called Gitche Gumee. Meets in the Grayson Room of the lodge.
Presented by: Andy Niekamp and Yvonne Entingh of Outdoor Adventure Connection. Andy is an expert in backpacking and has backpacked over 14,000 miles including the entire Appalachian Trail four times, Ohio's Buckeye Trail, Kentucky's Sheltowee Trace, Vermont's Long Trail, the Colorado Trail, Arkansas' Ozark Highlands Trail, Minnesota's Superior Hiking Trail and the Ohio To Erie Trail. Yvonne has over 6,800 miles of backpacking experience including hiking the entire Appalachian Trail, Florida Trail, Benton McKaye Trail and Mountains To Sea Trail. Yvonne got her start in backpacking later in life after raising three daughters. She has backpacked in over 18 states and does most of her hiking solo -- including an 900-mile solo hike on the AT in 2012.
