Scott McCrea began his caving journey in 1983 as a Boy Scout in Virginia, where his passion for the underground world took root. He joined the National Speleological Society (NSS) in 1995 and is an active member of both the Cleveland Grotto and Flittermouse Grotto.
Scott wears many hats in the caving community: he is an NCRC instructor, founder and owner of Swaygo Gear, and a Bat Survey safety guide. He also serves as the Southeastern Cave Conservancy, Inc. (SCCi) property manager for Cyclops Cave in Virginia. His dedication to caving safety and education includes roles as a former NSS Safety and Techniques Chairman and Over The Edge rope technician.
